Site Description:
The whole stretch of East Coast Park has an approximate distance of
20km. Hence the park is being divided into 12
sites for convenience.
Each site is demarcated from the neighbouring sites usually by breakwaters
or other prominent landmarks. Generally East Coast Park is very accessible
and trash collection points are easy to locate. Greater details are
provided on individual sites below.

Site 1 is situated between a canal and an extended drain into the sea. The relatively short stretch has quite a lot of coastal litter, mostly small items along the strand line as well as on higher ground along the beach. The site is slightly more inaccessible as compared to the other sites as there are no nearby carparks except the one at Big Splash. Participants will need to walk a short distance before reaching the beach. The beach is separated from the usual walking and cycling paths by a plot of casuarinas trees. There are no nearby trash bins to dump the trash, the nearest large trash bin is at the trash collection point near the toilets just outside Big Splash. The beach stretch also houses a boat storage area. The boat storage area has a lot of material strewn over. Participants are advised to not proceed too close to the boat stores for safety reasons.

Site 2 is situated from an extended drain on the west end to the jetty to the east. It consists of the beach directed outside Big Splash carpark and the Road Safety Park. Trash load along this long stretch is moderate. Trash Bins are located at the toilets beside the path leading into Big Splash carpark and also at the Bird Sanctuary near the jetty. A small patch of the beach at the jetty end is particularly dirty, with larger trash pieces strewn all over among some rocks. Participants are advised to be careful here to avoid cuts and injuries. The beach at the jetty end has a receding coastline with unstable cliff edge. Participants should be careful.

Site 3 starts from the jetty as the west end to a beach protrusion into the sea (may be hard to locate) as the east end. It consists of the beacon tower, the beach outside the Golf Driving Range, a small breakwater, the beach between the breakwater and the underpass to Marine Parade Promenade and a little over. It is a considerably long stretch of beach with moderate trash load to clean up. A trash bin can be found at the small breakwater.

Site 4 is located from the carpark to the west of Marine Cove as the west end to the end of the beach stretch which has a tree near the water edge. The beach is dirtied by oil slicks leaving black residues among the sand. Root protrusions along the beach make walking along the beach difficult. Rubbles and collapsed soil also pose as hazards along the beach. Be aware and stay clear of the receding coastlines. Trash Bins are located near Marine Cove. Trash Load is moderate.

Site 5 includes the beach at Marine Cove Recreation Centre proper as the west end and the Siglap Canal as the east end. It is a relatively clean beach stretch. The Trash Bin is located at the carparks.

Site 6 is situated in between two canals and overlooks the entire Costa Sands Resort Chalets. A breakwater near the western end of the resort chalets was undergoing construction at the time of recce. A small area around the breakwater is cordoned off and a barge is parked along the coast. The construction works may not last long and another confirmation recce by the school involved prior to the cleanup is recommended. If the construction is present during time of cleanup, keep clear from it. Toilets near the western end of the resort chalets have Trash Bins. Carpark at the western end of Costa Sands is designated Meeting Point 5.

Site 7 is from the canal beside East Coast Seafood Centre, across the East Coast Lagoon to right after Past Fresca Seasports centre. The beach here is slightly more inaccessible due to several situations. The coast at the East Coast Seafood Centre is made of concrete sea walls and no beaches are available for clean-up. The Lagoon bridge is undergoing some construction and heavy machinery may be present. Trash Bins are located at the canal and East Coast Lagoon Food Court. This results in only a small area of beach available for clean-up.

Site 8 is from the East Coast Lagoon Food Court at the
west end to Bedok Jetty. Trash Bins are located at the Bedok Jetty and
also the Bird Sanctuary on the other end. A boat storage area occupies

Site 9 is a long stretch of beach from Bedok Jetty as
the west end to the narrowest end of the park just after the Shrub Garden.
The beach stretch here is also narrow in width especially during high
tide. The coast has thick vegetation which make parts of the beach less
accessible. The beach is moderately dirty particularly the strand line.
The nearby Carpark F2 includes toilets, Trash Bins and Meeting Point

Site 10 continues from the narrow end of the park to the
PA East Coast Sea Sports Club. Trash Bins are located at the Sea Sports
Club. Be aware of sail boats being transported to and from the sea into
the sports club. Beach is relatively clean near the sports club but

Site 11 has the East Coast Sea
Sports Club at the west end, followed by SparkC Training Centre and
two breakwaters. The east
end is at the breakwater along the straight footpath before the path
diverges towards National Sailing Centre. The beach stretch outside
SparkC Training Centre has a moderately dirty strand line. Note there
are no carpark within this vicinity. Closest off-load point is at Site
10 Carpark F3 or Site 12 Carpark G. Trash Bins can be found at either

Site 12 is from a breakwater at the west end to Sungei
Bedok extended drains. The bike pavement was undergoing upgrading works
at time of recce. Site 12 also contain a boat storage area near the
canals which should be avoided. Participants working near National Sailing
Centre should look out for sail boat traffic along the beach. Trash
