Session 1. Marine Life in Singapore
Many people perceive Singapore to be a concrete jungle with a sterile environment, so much so many wonder, is there anything worth protecting? In this session, you will be introduced to some highlights of Singapore's marine biodiversity - the large and exciting examples as well as colourful and interesting stories. You will also be pointed to the many marine resources available on the internet - all of which are free for educational use.
Session 2. Impact of Marine Debris
Animals are killed or poisoned by the debris that they injest. They are also trapped by this debris and die from strangulation. Adverse impacts on the environment are experienced far away from human population centres - even reaching as far away as the middle of the Pacific Ocean!
Session 3. Analysis and relevance of the ICC data
The ICC Annual Report 2007 was issued during Earth Day this year. We will examine the report for details, including the amount of marine debris at our shorelines and the type of trash we dump into the sea. We will also discuss what is done to alert the United Nations about the data. How this data relates to daily action to reduce the amount of trash that goes to the sea or just to reduce trash will be discussed.
Session 4. Conduct the ICCS briefing
We will discuss methods of delivery and the revisions some of you would like to introduce for your specific audience. This is also a time to get answers to questions about various topics! We have a short powerpoint version of the marine life and marine impact talk that you can modify for your use, as well as the participant briefing.
